Between A Vampire & A Witch (chp.3)

Between A Vampire & A Witch
(Final Chapter)

I could recall it well, I have confessed my sickness to Vael and he went straight to have his fangs on my neck but Adrie has stopped him. I was thankful for that. I wouldn’t want to be a vampire, ever! Even though, I’m in love with one. To me, vampires are such nasty dark creature that does nothing but hunting down, craving for the blood of my very own kind of people. I desire not to be one and that’s that. It took some time for Vael to feed my decision to his strain of thoughts. While he was at it, Adrie has protected me just in case if Vael did something that is out of his mind as in turning me into a vampire.

“All I can say that Vael is insane!” Adrie said out loud, one night at the park where he accompanied me while I was waiting for Vael’s arrival.

“Adrie, he was just trying to save me. You knew that I will eventually die, someday. So, he thought it will be a great idea if I’ve turned into a vampire and live immortally.” I explained.

“Even so, I won’t let him have his hands on you and turned you into that vicious creature.” Adrie folded his arms, disagreeing with Vael’s plan to save me.

“But what if I was left to no other choice? Do you think there will be some other way to get this disease of mine away from me?” I asked him straight.

“There are a lot of ways, Annika. Trust me. I’ve been working hard on that, if you wanna know.” Adrie just smiled.

“Really, Adrie?” I was in a smiley state too hearing what Adrie have said.

“Yes. I rather die than seeing you become just like him.” He then grinned to me.

“Don’t worry, Vael respect my decision and obviously turning me into a vampire is so out of his mind, by now. Adrie, why do hate Vael so much?” I asked him jokingly.

“I don’t hate him, I hate for who he is, a vampire.” With an annoying tone, Adrie revealed his answer.

“A witch hates a vampire, what more can I say?” I laughed a little and thought it was funny.

Adrie let out a few giggles. “Just promise me whatever happens, don’t let him turn you into one, okay?”

“Yes, Adrie. I promise.” I lifted my right hand and swear to him in my playful joy way.

“Annika, there’s something I’ve been longing to tell you..” Adrie seemed to be serious as if wanted to say something important and he looked nervous too.

“What is it?” My attention was all to him as my mind filled with million question marks.

“Hey gorgeous! I came here to suck your blood.” Vael came all of the sudden and got a hold of my face so that his mouth could reach my neck. “Not!” He then, moved his mouth position to my lips, instead giving me a long breathless kiss.

“See, what I told ya.” I winked at Adrie after I was done with the kissing part.

“Hey Adrie, put a trust on me, now eh. And you don’t have to worry, I won’t change her if she refused to. Gotta show some respect for my lovely girl.” Vael was stroking my face, lovingly and kissed me again.

“Right.” That was all Adrie’s mouth could say and he was making his way to walk away from us, out from the park.

“Adrie, wait!” I stopped Vael and called him back. “What was it that you wanna tell me?” I said in a curiosity.

“Nothing.” He simply replied.

“Come on, now Adrie. It has got to be something.” I knew he wanted to say something by looking through his eyes. His eyes won’t lie.

“Well, I’m happy to see you’re happy, Annika.” Adrie smiled and the next thing I knew, Vael and I were left alone in the park. I didn’t wish Adrie goodbye nor as I wish him good night since Vael has pulled and locked me into his arms. We were kissing through the night as if we are the only two left in this world. It was clear to say, that was the moment for our intimacy and Adrie wouldn’t want to interrupt by standing there watching us go all over each other.

I was still unsure of what Adrie was saying on that night whether that was actually he wanted to say or he’s still been hiding something from me. I ignored that fact after a while. All that matters, Adrie believed that he could help me or even to give me hope for that chance for me to keep on living in this world. He said he’s been working on some potions and spells just for me. I trust him with that and yet he wasn’t the one who came at this very last hour. It was Vael who came back to me. I didn’t expect for him. I thought he has gone forever and forgotten all about me but he came back at the right time as my prince charming. I was in disbelief.

“Where is Adrie?” I wondered. I guess, this is my destiny, to be with Vael and to live immortally like him.

“Annika, will you let me bite you and stop you from dying?” Vael requested for my permission.

A simple answer is what Vael wanted. Is it a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’? I couldn’t do any thinking at that very moment, that’s for sure. I was dying! My heart told me to wait for Adrie to come and I have made that one promise to him not to let Vael turned me into his kind but the pain had the full control on me, making me think twice of everything. I didn’t have that much time, I was given a chance to live by Vael and it was good enough. The idea of dying at a very young age never came to my mind, I’ve been living 18 years and there are still a lot of things in this world than I haven’t discovered. Although, I knew the time will eventually come but not that fast.

“Annika, say yes, please.” Vael begged.

I nodded unwillingly, Adrie wouldn’t agree on this but there wasn’t any choice left and my life string is near to its end. If it takes one bite for me to live, a vampire I shall be then. Moreover, Vael was sweet enough to have come and give me a golden chance to live, I shouldn’t turn him down. He still loves me, why would I stop loving him and waiting for someone who seems to broke his promise. So, I decided to break his promise since he broke mine. That’s like fair and square.

“This gonna hurt a little but only for while.” The caring side of Vael said.

I was screaming in pain, my time has come. As I took a high breath, Vael went under my neck and he extracted his fangs right on the flesh of my skin. I could feel his fangs on my neck, sucking the blood out from my vein. I was frozen and felt numb, somehow the pain of my sickness has ran away and yet I couldn’t feel the pain that Vael has put me on. Maybe it is because the pain was a pain of love. My vision slowly fading away as Vael sucked a gallon amount of blood from my body.

As I was about to shut my eyes and to be reborn as a vampire, the last thing I saw is Adrie who was standing at my door together with his bottles of potions and his wicked shining athame on his hands and I could see a disappointed look on his face. Adrie had lost to Vael. He came back but it was too late, Vael was ahead from him. A little drop of tear fell down my cheek before I passed out knowing that it was impossible to turn back the time. I broke his promise, I was ashamed of that. As I entered the dark world of being a vampire, I felt regretful over my unwise decision to join Vael. Indeed, I am in love with him but little that everyone knew it was Adrie, the witch who I had truly a heart on. I wish he could have been there for me earlier for I have always love Adrie more than ever. He was everything to me and now, I’ve turned to a vampire, a dark creature that Adrie has the word ‘Hate’ written all over. Our love is shattered into pieces, Adrie, the witch who owns my heart is gonna hate me forever.

The End

Between A Vampire & A Witch (chp.2)

Between A Vampire & A Witch

“It’s been a week already and Vael is still nowhere to be found.”

It was a dark night, my parents were out of town and it was charming enough that Adrie came to accompany me as I was feeling very weak due to the sickness I’ve been kept secret about. Although, only Adrie and Vael knew about it. Not to forget, Vael been missing ever since the day I’ve been attacked violently by his sister which clearly makes me feel even more sick.

“Annika, don’t worry about him. I’ll try and find him for you. But as for now, you just need to rest alright dollface?” Adrie tucked me into my bed, treated me as if I was a 4 year old girl.

I had a strange disease that no one could understand. It is like as if I was put into a cursed or some sort. This curse of mine came to me unexpectedly and unpredictable, it came whenever it feels like to. Although, I have never feel so much in pain like I felt on that exact sick moment that I had to endure. I was having a very high fever, my body tends to be weak as if something was poking me until the throbbing pain reached my bones, I was sweating vastly and I felt terribly in nausea state too. I tried to rest but I just couldn’t. Knowing that I had to suffer my sickness without my love, Vael is a pain in my heart. My mind couldn’t stop me from thinking about Vael, Is he alive or dead? Vael always kept me hanging, left me all alone when I am actually seeking for his attention.

The room suddenly became all chilly, I shivered and strangely, I couldn’t breathe properly, less air is sucked into my lungs like as if there was a blockage for me to actually breathe. Then, I kept on coughing and coughing until it came to a point where I bleed cough. And everything seemed to be blurry in my vision of eye sight. “What’s happening to me?” I questioned myself.

“I can’t breathe.” I said in my ever so soft and weak tone.

“Annika, stay with me. I don’t expect the time to come now, I came unprepared. ” Adrie knew that someday I will face the moment where my sickness will brought up to my death.

“I can’t breathe.” That was all I could say and later Adrie noticed I am turning pale as a dead girl.
“You need something!” Adrie was sensing that I was in a terrible condition and his witchy intuition led him to do something that can actually save me.

“Adrie, don’t leave me.” I managed to grab his wrist before he left my room in a rush
.
“Don’t worry, Annika. I promise, I will be back in a jiff, just hold on. Wait for me, I’m gonna make you all better, my dear.” The last thing he did was kissing my forehead and off he went, leaving me alone.
“Adrie..”

It was shocking that my sickness had come to its worst on that night. “This will be the end of my life.” That’s what I thought since I couldn’t seem to bear that crucial pain anymore. It felt as if my whole body was burning. My head was spinning non-stop and it hurts badly. I was shivering, shaking just like someone who was possessed by an evil soul. What a throbbing pain I had to suffer. And yet no one was around me at the state of my dying moment. I need and I long for the love of my heart to give me the strength to live on. I was waiting with full hope that one of them will eventually come and keep me alive.

As time passed by, the wind blew swiftly through my open window. Adrie was still out of sight. The night was cold and starry with the full moon glowing in the dark sky. I knew that this day will come, a day where my soul will be taken but never in my mind I ever imagine that I had to suffer this all alone. My dying night seemed to be filled with loneliness and despair. My heart was bleeding, not just because the fact that my disease attacked me but my love hasn’t come to rescue me. All of the sudden, my eyesight was showing a vision of a shadowy figured guy appeared in the scene. The shadow came closer and revealed his face. I couldn’t see properly and the only person that I thought will be coming and cure me is Adrie.

“Adrie” In my weakest voice, I said his name.

“Annika, are you alright?” I knew that voice and it was certainly not the witch, it was in fact my vampire boyfriend. Vael came to face me who was already waiting to let out my last breath. I couldn’t say anything, I got tongue tied since it was hard for me to even inhale the air and what more when it comes to speaking?
By just taking a glimpse at me, Vael understood my serious condition.

“Sorry, I couldn’t come earlier but listen to me, Annika. I can save you but I need your acceptance on this. Remember when you told me about your life grabbing sickness, I know you didn’t agree to be my kind when I first offered you but I have no other choice now. You need to be one, you’re dying! The only thing that can save you now is by turning you as an immortal. I love you and I wouldn’t dare to leave you without any heartbeat.” It was the first time Vael has proven how much he loves me.

Between A Vampire & A Witch

“There you go. Just leave it for a while.” Adrie said as he gently dap the mixture of herbs that he concocted to heal my deep wound due to the scratch mark I received on my wrist from a vicious bloodsucking vampire.

“Thanks Adrie, you’re one good witch doctor.” I was feeling relief to have seen my wound has stop bleeding as I flashed a sweet angelic smile to Adrie. As I was about to head for the door to exit myself from his house, he immediately pulled me by my shoulder and threw me on the soft couch of his living room.

“I’m not done with you, Annika. Who says you can leave?” Adrie leaned close to me who was practically lying on my back, by then. He stared deeply into my eyes as if he was hypnotizing me with his dazzling pair of chestnut eyes while stroking my silky and lovely long brunette hair.

We never actually declared that we are together but somehow we care for each other more than ever which makes us share something special in our relationship. Best friend with benefits, perhaps?
“Do you need to know?” I could read his mind. As usual, he wanted me to explain from A-Z on how I ended up with that one nasty vampire scratch.

“Obviously, yeah! The last thing I wanna know is that Vael was being too wild on the bed! So, please don’t tell me that was the reason.” Adrie said and he did that irritating face of his whenever he mention about Vael, my boyfriend who happens to be a stunning yet gorgeous vampire. Yes, I have a vampire for a boyfriend and a witch for a best friend. Easy to say, I have the best of both worlds.

“Adrie! Vael is innocent, okay.” I assured him.

“Yeah, I’m innocent!” Vael suddenly appeared in the living room looking mysteriously wicked, donning a black velvet cloak making him glowing as his skin is palest as ever. The wind from the window opening blew his black-jet hair and his ocean-like blue eyes were glittering, truly mesmerizing makes me wonder am I really his sweetheart? Or is he some sort of fantasy of mine who only exist in my creative world of imagination.

“Barging in again, without a knock on the door?” Adrie got up and move a few inches away from me
.
“I’m a vampire, you should know vampire prefers a window more than a door, makes them more mysterious!” Vael grinned and sat next to me, stretching his hands around my shoulder. “So, what you’ve been up to with my girlfriend?” Vael seductively brush his lips under my neck.

“Vael, do you mind?” I pushed him in a playful way, wanted him to stop whatever he is doing even though I enjoy his little treat. Obviously, I wouldn’t want Adrie to watch us getting into a hot scene.

“For your info I was taking care of her, heal her wound which is done by your kind. You, vampires just don’t you have any mercy for human.” Adrie simply answered Vael with full boast.

“Hey, I do have mercy but only for my love ones.” Vael gave Adrie a wink. He then, pulled me even closer and had a look on my wound which is fully covered with some healing herbs. He studied my face too since there are few mere scratches.

“Yeah yeah” Adrie rolled his eyes and turned to me. “So who’s the bloody bastard vampire hurt you this time?” Adrie was eager to know.

“Lyra.” I said the name as clear as crystal.

“My very own sister, again? Damn you, Lyra! I thought I’ve told her to stay away from you.” Vael changed his playful mood to an enrage one.

“Thought so, I saw this coming. I did warn you, right Annika? But you wouldn’t listen. Say thank you to your dearly sister, Vael for hurting Annika.” Obviously Adrie had felt it, using his witchy instinct, it’s not a surprise that he managed to predict that something or someone will attack me, on that very night.
“Oh I will. She’ll get something special from me.” Vael said with his deep angry tone. Thus, letting me go and vanished himself in a very fast motion.

“Vael!” I said his name out loud but it was just impossible to stop him as he was already nowhere to be seen in Adrie’s house, all thanks to his vampire ability. “He’s gonna put himself into more trouble!”

“And put you in danger!” Adrie sighed and he went to comfort me, giving me a warm hug just to show how much he cares for me. “You know, you shouldn’t be going out with Vael at the first place. I know you’re actually scared, Annika. You’re scared to actually be closed with Vael every single day because his family, or should I say, more like his kind, are all against you. The reason you tried to be brave is that you wouldn’t want to hurt Vael’s feelings and you feel like you owe him big time since he had rescue you from being his sister’s prey. And better yet if you wouldn’t want to accept him, he might as well just suck your blood, am I right? Just admit that you are scared of Vael and his clan.”

Adrie could read my mind pretty well and those words he said has put me into tears. Whatever he said was true. I was actually scared of the bloodsucking creatures. Well, who wouldn’t? They feed on human’s blood for heaven’s sake! And I am a human, a mortal! Vael, my boyfriend is a vampire. He saved me from the other vampires just because he loves me. I love Vael, I love everything about him. Plus, it would be a waste if you turn down a heavenly gorgeous immortal who clearly desire to have you as his love partner. Although sometimes being with Vael, I had the feeling that fear has conquered me whole. Ever since Vael and I are together, my nightmare came to live as in I was chased by all the vampires who knew about our unconditional relationship and truthfully I was their main target. A vampire fell in love with a human just like a predator fell in love with its prey. That’s totally against the vampire rule especially if you are the pure blooded ones. In this case, let’s just say, Vael is a pure blooded vampire who strangely enough to have fallen for a human like me, his very own source of food. I appreciated Vael’s love but I just feel so insecure having him by my side. Thankfully, I have Adrie, that one blood witch who tends to look after me most of the time. He was always there for me and I admire him for that. He knew and understands me well which made me feel more connected to him rather than to Vael. At times, I wish that Vael could be more like Adrie.
Without saying any words, I just nodded and judging by the tears that have been running down my cheeks, Adrie could tell the answer was of course a ‘yes’.

“There there, you’re here with me, now. You’re safe in my arms.” Adrie hugged me even tighter but soft and gently while I was drowning myself in tears. I felt safe, safe under Adrie’s arms and I had the feeling that nothing would come and get me when Adrie is around.

That night, Adrie sent me home safely since Vael disappeared into the night without a trace, typical vampires. So, Adrie took Vael spot, instead. It has always been like that, it was all about fun when it comes to Vael’s love. Vael didn’t really show that he cares and the true meaning of his love to me. Without Vael around, Adrie did everything that he could just to make sure I will be all fine. He took good care of me for Vael. With his witchcraft knowledge, he even drew some runes around my house for the sake of protection and gave me a crystal chunk that he had cast a spell on for healing. Adrie kissed me goodnight under the moonlight in the beautiful dark sky. It was the very first time I actually felt like I’ve been sincerely loved by someone.
