Angel In Disguise (chp.1)
The thing about dad that I hate the most is that he always moves from one city to another and had to drag me and mum along, due to the job offers that he received. I hate being the new girl in town. I hate meeting new people. I hate that I had to change my room every now and then. I hate everything that has to do with moving. Although, I have to admit I kinda like when we moved to Berlin, Germany last year. It all boils down to the fact that I had fallen for an angel without even knowing it during my 6 months stay in this one particular town in Berlin. Can you believe it? An angel. Yes, an angel! Well, sorta like an angel. To me, he’s an angel indeed.
My love story began during summer last year, where my dad brought my mum and I to our new house.
“Here we are, home sweet home!” Dad said while pulling off the car in front of the house.
“Yeah, yeah, like how many times you’ve said that already?” I rolled my eyes.
“I think this will be the tenth time, dear.” Mum said.
“Oh come on, let’s just hope this will be our last move. No more after this, okay?” Dad grinned.
“Yeah, dad. Keep on saying that, we’ll be moving again for sure!” I said sarcastically and went out from the car.
“Oh Liena, don’t worry. I bet you’re going to love Berlin.” Dad assured me.
“I hope and thank God, it’s summer! So, I don’t have to go to school. Yay!” I tried to put a smile on my face.
“Now, that’s what I want. A smile from you.”
“Dad, it’s a fake smile!”
Berlin was quite boring at first. I got nothing to do even though it was summer at that time. Well duh! I did not have any friends to hang out with, of course that was the reason being.
One day, I decided to spend my reading time outside at the park nearby. I sat under this one big shady tree just to cover myself from the sunlight. “I am too tanned to be under the Sun!” I said to myself. After reading a few pages of my novel, I took a break and tried to enjoy the windy weather on this particular summer’s day at the park. And then, that’s when I saw something glowing and glaring from far. And strangely it was coming towards the tree that I was leaning to.
That glowing shadow was getting nearer and I could see it has a shape of a human. At first, I thought it was a girl but then when it got closer, it was actually a heavenly gorgeous looking guy that my eyes have ever seen.
As he walked, the wind blew his soft and smooth black hair with a unique blonde streaks at front. His skin was so fair and his eyes were shining even from far. And guess what? He got a book on his hand. “He must be looking for a spot to read.” I said to my heart. He just stared at me while he was walking pass by and gave me an irresistible smile which I could never take off from my mind. “I never knew German guys are hot like that!” Again I said to myself. After that 5 minutes of interruption, I decided to get back on my book. Suddenly, that gorgeous German hottie walked pass by me again but this time he has found a place to be seated which was under an opposite tree of mine.
“Great. Now, he’s clearly gonna make me lose my concentration on reading this book.” I read a few lines and stopped just to stare at him. He was reading peacefully and turned the page ever so gently and polite. He caught my eyes, somehow and just gave me another of his precious smiles. I wanted to stay long at the park but it was getting dark already and I wouldn’t want my mum to get worried. So, I decided to go back home, leaving that German hottie alone in the park. I’ve noticed something rare about that particular hottie. He was surely not like all the typical guys I knew. He was the quiet and shy type of guy. I stepped out from the park and suddenly, a deep stunning voice of a guy was heard.
“Hey you..you there..” That gorgeous guy was calling for me.
“Me? You’re calling me?” I asked.
“ Yeah, you drop this just now.” He said as he handed me a piece of rectangular card with ribbon tied at the top end.
“Oh, my bookmark. Why, thank you.”
“ No problem.” He grinned. “So, you’re new here?” He was being curious.
“Yeap! And you?” I asked him back.
“Oh no, I’m kinda old, very old here.” He showed his ever so charming laughter. “Anyway, I’m Strify and you are...”
“Liena.”
“Liena, nice meeting ya. I guess I’ll see you again, eh? Maybe tomorrow?” Strify winked at me.
“Yeah, I guess so.” My cheeks went pink as soon as he gave me that flirty wink.
Okay, I misjudged him. He was so not the quiet and shy type of guy. He was more of a flirtatious hottie. How nice is that, huh?
The next day, I’ve made up my mind to head to that park again and I was hoping I could meet up with Strify, once more. I walked gracefully to the park, feeling that my summer in Berlin wouldn’t be darn boring after all. Tell me, who wouldn’t be ecstatic if you met a hottie and he said he would like to see you again. I was on cloud nine. I arrived at my reading spot and found Strify there. He was sitting on my spot.
“Hey you, that’s my spot!” I said.
Strify raised his chin up, stared at me with his twinkling eyes and said, “Well sweetie, it doesn’t have your name written on it. So, basically anyone can have this spot. And besides this is my spot right before you came yesterday.”
I was bedazzled by his glare and not knowing what else to say, I just replied, “You’re right and sorry. I’ll find somewhere else to sit then.” And I smiled sweetly at him while my heart was beating ever so fast. When I was about to take one step behind, Strify grabbed my arm with his smooth fair skin hand. I froze at the spot.
“Don’t go. You can sit here with me, if you like.” Those lines came out from his mouth left me breathless.
He actually wanted me to accompany him? Wow, a hot guy like Strify asked me a favour like that? I couldn’t catch a breath nor as I could say a word.
“Yes? No?” He showed his adorable yet curious face.
“Yeah, sure.” I answered him without hesitated and sat right next to him under the big shady tree.
“So, what book did you bring for today, Liena?” Strify asked.
“Same like yesterday.” I simply answered him.
“Twilight? Cool.” He looked at my book for a few seconds and then went back to his book.
We didn’t say a word after that. It was silence all the way. To tell you the truth, I am actually a chatterbox but it was weird because when I was with Strify at that time, I got tongue-tied. Strify was paying all his attention to his book. So, I wouldn’t dare to disturb him. I felt bored, obviously. I thought Strify was a fun guy to hang out with but turns out, he was a nerdy who got stuck in a hot guy’s body.
“Why is he so quiet?” That thought is killing me. I tried to ignore that fact. “Oh come on, at least he have said something to you. Better than nothing.” I whispered to my heart and forced myself to enjoy every one bit of the scene. “It’s not like that often, I got a chance to sit beside a hottie under a tree to have a quality reading time together.” I convinced myself not feel bored at that moment.
“Sorry if I make you feel bored or something..” Strify realized that I was showing my boring face expression, not in purpose.
“Oh no no no, it’s okay. Wait, what makes you say that?” I replied.
“I get that a lot from girls. They usually hang out with me just because I’m good looking not by judging on my personality.” Strify said while he was still eyeing on his book.
I felt like I was hit by a lorry. “I can’t be like one of those girls, can’t I? I need to say something wise to make him think that I am not like those girls even though I am, for like a second ago.”
“Look maybe you should improve your personality.” I finally managed to arrange a sentence.
“What do you mean?”
“I’m guessing you like to read a lot?”
“Yeap, it’s my hobby.”
“Well, I’ve noticed something. You know, when you read, you don’t pay attention on what’s happening around you. So, whenever there’s a girl hanging out with you while you read, obviously they’ll get easily bored of you.”
“Hmm..I see.”
“How about you find another interesting hobby else than reading?”
“Should I?”
“Yeah, if you wanna make girls attracted to you more.”
“Hmm...I don’t think I need a girlfriend at the moment. So, I’ll pass.”
“Suit yourself.”
“We’ll continue reading, okay?” Strify just smiled.
“If you say so.”
Strify and I continued with our books until dusk. “We’ll do this again, tomorrow Liena?”
“Maybe. See you Strify.” I left the park and noted to myself, “I so need to change this gorgeous hottie to actually become a hottie not a boring bookworm.”
On the following day, I came a bit late. When I arrived at the park, like it was so obvious Strify was already there, sitting calmly under his favourite big shady tree while he was enjoying himself, reading a new book. I approached him and I never thought he would notice my arrival since he was clearly glued to his book, not eyeing anywhere else other than the book on his hand.
“You’re a bit late, today.” He said before I could even greet him a ‘hello’.
“How come you know I’m here? You were all over the book, just now.”
“My dear, I have eyes to look and I have ears to hear, right?” He briefly explained.
“Oh yeah.” I didn’t know what else to say. Oh God! It means he wasn’t paying all of his attention when it comes to reading. It was only the eyes.
“So, don’t blame me if you’re feeling kinda bored when I’m reading.”
“You do pay attention to the surroundings while you read!”
“Yeap!” Strify smiled.
“Then, maybe those girls who hung out with you got bored easily because they didn’t like to read.”
“Yeah, I bet they like to read my face more than they like to read a book.”
“Well, duh!” I said and Strify just gave a stare at me. “I mean, who wouldn’t? You’re gorgeous!” Those words seemed to have split out from my mouth.
“Oh my god, did I just say that out loud?” I panicked.
“Haha, you did! And thanks for saying I’m gorgeous!” Strify winked at me.
“Stop with the winking already!”
“Why not?” Strify winked even more.
“It’s deadly, I hardly can look!” I covered my eyes with both hands.
“You’re funny, Liena. Anyways, Where’s your book? Aren’t you gonna read with me today?”
“Nope! I decided to steal you away from this spot!”
“What?” Strify said curiously.
“Come on, get up!” I pulled Strify’s hand and forced him to get up. “I’m gonna show you the meaning of fun today!”
