I could recall it well, I have confessed my sickness to Vael and he went straight to have his fangs on my neck but Adrie has stopped him. I was thankful for that. I wouldn’t want to be a vampire, ever! Even though, I’m in love with one. To me, vampires are such nasty dark creature that does nothing but hunting down, craving for the blood of my very own kind of people. I desire not to be one and that’s that. It took some time for Vael to feed my decision to his strain of thoughts. While he was at it, Adrie has protected me just in case if Vael did something that is out of his mind as in turning me into a vampire.
“All I can say that Vael is insane!” Adrie said out loud, one night at the park where he accompanied me while I was waiting for Vael’s arrival.
“Adrie, he was just trying to save me. You knew that I will eventually die, someday. So, he thought it will be a great idea if I’ve turned into a vampire and live immortally.” I explained.
“Even so, I won’t let him have his hands on you and turned you into that vicious creature.” Adrie folded his arms, disagreeing with Vael’s plan to save me.
“But what if I was left to no other choice? Do you think there will be some other way to get this disease of mine away from me?” I asked him straight.
“There are a lot of ways, Annika. Trust me. I’ve been working hard on that, if you wanna know.” Adrie just smiled.
“Really, Adrie?” I was in a smiley state too hearing what Adrie have said.
“Yes. I rather die than seeing you become just like him.” He then grinned to me.
“Don’t worry, Vael respect my decision and obviously turning me into a vampire is so out of his mind, by now. Adrie, why do hate Vael so much?” I asked him jokingly.
“I don’t hate him, I hate for who he is, a vampire.” With an annoying tone, Adrie revealed his answer.
“A witch hates a vampire, what more can I say?” I laughed a little and thought it was funny.
Adrie let out a few giggles. “Just promise me whatever happens, don’t let him turn you into one, okay?”
“Yes, Adrie. I promise.” I lifted my right hand and swear to him in my playful joy way.
“Annika, there’s something I’ve been longing to tell you..” Adrie seemed to be serious as if wanted to say something important and he looked nervous too.
“What is it?” My attention was all to him as my mind filled with million question marks.
“Hey gorgeous! I came here to suck your blood.” Vael came all of the sudden and got a hold of my face so that his mouth could reach my neck. “Not!” He then, moved his mouth position to my lips, instead giving me a long breathless kiss.
“See, what I told ya.” I winked at Adrie after I was done with the kissing part.
“Hey Adrie, put a trust on me, now eh. And you don’t have to worry, I won’t change her if she refused to. Gotta show some respect for my lovely girl.” Vael was stroking my face, lovingly and kissed me again.
“Right.” That was all Adrie’s mouth could say and he was making his way to walk away from us, out from the park.
“Adrie, wait!” I stopped Vael and called him back. “What was it that you wanna tell me?” I said in a curiosity.
“Nothing.” He simply replied.
“Come on, now Adrie. It has got to be something.” I knew he wanted to say something by looking through his eyes. His eyes won’t lie.
“Well, I’m happy to see you’re happy, Annika.” Adrie smiled and the next thing I knew, Vael and I were left alone in the park. I didn’t wish Adrie goodbye nor as I wish him good night since Vael has pulled and locked me into his arms. We were kissing through the night as if we are the only two left in this world. It was clear to say, that was the moment for our intimacy and Adrie wouldn’t want to interrupt by standing there watching us go all over each other.
I was still unsure of what Adrie was saying on that night whether that was actually he wanted to say or he’s still been hiding something from me. I ignored that fact after a while. All that matters, Adrie believed that he could help me or even to give me hope for that chance for me to keep on living in this world. He said he’s been working on some potions and spells just for me. I trust him with that and yet he wasn’t the one who came at this very last hour. It was Vael who came back to me. I didn’t expect for him. I thought he has gone forever and forgotten all about me but he came back at the right time as my prince charming. I was in disbelief.
“Where is Adrie?” I wondered. I guess, this is my destiny, to be with Vael and to live immortally like him.
“Annika, will you let me bite you and stop you from dying?” Vael requested for my permission.
A simple answer is what Vael wanted. Is it a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’? I couldn’t do any thinking at that very moment, that’s for sure. I was dying! My heart told me to wait for Adrie to come and I have made that one promise to him not to let Vael turned me into his kind but the pain had the full control on me, making me think twice of everything. I didn’t have that much time, I was given a chance to live by Vael and it was good enough. The idea of dying at a very young age never came to my mind, I’ve been living 18 years and there are still a lot of things in this world than I haven’t discovered. Although, I knew the time will eventually come but not that fast.
“Annika, say yes, please.” Vael begged.
I nodded unwillingly, Adrie wouldn’t agree on this but there wasn’t any choice left and my life string is near to its end. If it takes one bite for me to live, a vampire I shall be then. Moreover, Vael was sweet enough to have come and give me a golden chance to live, I shouldn’t turn him down. He still loves me, why would I stop loving him and waiting for someone who seems to broke his promise. So, I decided to break his promise since he broke mine. That’s like fair and square.
“This gonna hurt a little but only for while.” The caring side of Vael said.
I was screaming in pain, my time has come. As I took a high breath, Vael went under my neck and he extracted his fangs right on the flesh of my skin. I could feel his fangs on my neck, sucking the blood out from my vein. I was frozen and felt numb, somehow the pain of my sickness has ran away and yet I couldn’t feel the pain that Vael has put me on. Maybe it is because the pain was a pain of love. My vision slowly fading away as Vael sucked a gallon amount of blood from my body.
As I was about to shut my eyes and to be reborn as a vampire, the last thing I saw is Adrie who was standing at my door together with his bottles of potions and his wicked shining athame on his hands and I could see a disappointed look on his face. Adrie had lost to Vael. He came back but it was too late, Vael was ahead from him. A little drop of tear fell down my cheek before I passed out knowing that it was impossible to turn back the time. I broke his promise, I was ashamed of that. As I entered the dark world of being a vampire, I felt regretful over my unwise decision to join Vael. Indeed, I am in love with him but little that everyone knew it was Adrie, the witch who I had truly a heart on. I wish he could have been there for me earlier for I have always love Adrie more than ever. He was everything to me and now, I’ve turned to a vampire, a dark creature that Adrie has the word ‘Hate’ written all over. Our love is shattered into pieces, Adrie, the witch who owns my heart is gonna hate me forever.
The End
